A weekly travel/adventure series exploring the heart and soul of
regional cultures and landscapes via the unique use of flying boats.
Yes, the romantic age of marine aviation is back as your host Johanna Hoecker
takes you on 'safari' to some of the
most interesting places in the world.
From Maine to Mexico,
Arizona to Alaska, Seaplane Safari will reveal the hidden beauty of these
locales, take an in-depth look at the native culture, and examine how our
precious environment is coping with humanity’s ever increasing intrusions.
Throughout the first
season, we dare to explore the unconventional and the unexpected. Sure, viewers
will get to experience the pristine reaches of Canada’s Yukon Territory, but
we’ll also take them to the industrialized chaos of New York harbor.
You’re probably wondering
what native cultures there are near the shores of metropolitan New York. Well,
our crack research staff informs us that while most of that part of America is
not indigenous, colonies have been there long enough to develop bizarre and
sordid rituals unique unto themselves. We plan to infiltrate those enclaves and
expose them in a most thorough and entertaining way.
THE HOST:
The
leader of our weekly expedition is the charming yet down-to-earth Johanna
Hoecker. Johanna’s bright and inquisitive persona will engage viewers as she
interacts with some of the most ornery people they’ll ever meet – the bush
pilot. Joining her each week will be a local aviator who will take us to the
most unpredictable locations where viewers will learn why there is nothing like
traveling the world in a ‘flying boat’.
Johanna, an
accomplished equestrian, is an award-winning news producer who has appeared in
Off-Broadway shows as well as comedy sketches for independent filmmakers. The
combination of news and live entertainment experience is exactly what
Seaplane Safari needs in a host.
