JFS Films reaches back in time to reveal the untold story of America's first “birdwoman", Harriet Quimby.  Producer John Schwally uses archival imagery, historical records, and expert commentary to reveal the illustrious Quimby as never before. For the first time in nearly a century, Quimby will re-introduce America to its original heroine of aviation.

Although her legacy has been overshadowed by the legend of Amelia Earhart, Harriet Quimby was the first aviatrix to capture America's imagination. During the dawn of flight, even as the Wright Brothers were attempting to monopolize the fledgling aviation industry, Miss Quimby's pioneering spirit was paving the way for generations of women aviators.

Her signature purple flying suit was unmistakable at air shows across the country, but what kind of woman was cloaked beneath the satin?

Quimby is the first documentary film to piece together the amazing yet elusive life of Harriet Quimby: Frontier Child, Actress, Journalist, Bohemian, Screenwriter, Photographer, World Traveler, and finally, Aviator.

It portrays a compelling life now long forgotten, yet desperately in need of scrutiny and celebration.

Quimby is the story of one woman's quest for adventure and success in ‘a man’s world’ that rings true nearly a century after her illustrious life and tragic death.
