On the afternoon of July 29, 1938, amid overcast skies and light rain, one of Pan American Airways’ famous flying boats disappeared without a trace over the western Pacific Ocean. The preliminary report prepared by the Aviation Safety Board of the Civil Aeronautics Administration (now the FAA) regarding the missing colossal aircraft, its six passengers, and nine-person crew remains as an ‘open’ case to this day. How is this possible? Nearly 65 years since the calamity of the Hawaii Clipper, why has this case remained open without as much as a ‘probable cause’ noted in the official record? In the Blink of an Eye will take us back in time on a voyage of intrigue to examine the rumors - and reveal the facts - behind this enduring aviation mystery. Through the years, several researchers have put forth theories that the Hawaii Clipper was somehow hi-jacked -- one even suggests we may yet find the remains of the 15 passengers and crew! Aviation experts have dismissed these claims as wild ideas of conspiracy theorists and crackpots. However, when pondering the combined body of evidence of all the various Hawaii Clipper 'crash' investigations, the hi-jacking theory becomes rather interesting to consider and, perhaps, somewhat more likely to believe.
