FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

JFS Films Covers 60th Anniversary of PAA-Africa, Ltd.

San Francisco, CA -- November 29, 2001 -- As part of the ongoing production for the aviation history documentary Across the Sahara, JFS Films was on hand this week for the 60th anniversary reunion of Pan American Airways - Africa, Ltd. (PAA-Africa).  The group met here at the York Hotel for several days of camaraderie and storytelling as they looked back 60 years to the awe-inspiring feat they had accomplished as employees of PAA-Africa.  The airline was formed by parent Pan Am to ferry aircraft and ammunition to Allied troops in the Middle-  and Far-East in 1941, months before official U.S. involvement in the war.  As civilians, these men set up what would prove to be one of the most crucial air routes in service during the course of World War II.  Producer John Schwally used the gathering as an opportunity to get several of the men on tape discussing their experiences in the deserts and jungles of the Dark Continent so many years ago.  Mr. Schwally hopes to complete the film for broadcast sometime in 2002.

JFS Films, LLC, is an independent television production company established by veteran PBS Producer and Production Manager John Schwally to create quality television programming for broadcast and cable distribution nationwide and internationally.  Currently in production is the documentary Across the Sahara that chronicles the little known story of Pan American Airways -Africa, Ltd. and its contributions to the Allied war effort in World War II.
