John F. Schwally was Executive Producer on the outdoor-adventure program The Backpacking Experience which aired nationally on cable television's Outdoor Life Network.  Later, he spent nearly two years as New York Bureau Chief for the national PBS magazine series Religion & Ethics NewsWeekly.  

Mr. Schwally is producing the aviation history documentary Across the Sahara and serving as Production Manager for the PBS special Mystery of Love.  During the summer of 2002, Schwally joined forces with producer/writer Evan Gray to produce the travel/adventure series pilot Seaplane Safari. 

Mr. Schwally provided editorial, logistical and budgeting services to The Independent Production Fund for The Islam Project, a co-venture providing over 4 hours of national programming for ABC News’ Nightline program and a PBS Frontline special, all of which aired nationally.  The PBS special Heart of the Soul with Gary Zukav was completed under Mr. Schwally’s direction as Line Producer.

Among his prior works, Schwally performed the dual roles of Field Producer and Production Manager on the Discovery Health Channel series Beating the Odds.  Other credits include work as Senior Production Manager on national PBS series Nature, Adam Smith (Emmy winner), Innovation (Emmy nominee) and Line Producer on the annual live production of the DuPont-Columbia University Awards in Journalism.  He was awarded his second Emmy Award for his work as Production Manager on the PBS special SHE SAYS: Women in News.

    Mr. Schwally is a past Chairman of The Producers Guild of America - East Chapter and also remains a member in good standing with the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences – NY Chapter (NYNATAS), the International Documentary Association (IDA), RealScreen, and the Association of Independent Video and Filmmakers (AIVF). 

    John holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and a Master of Arts in Communications, Film & Television Production (with distinction).
